Kappy is a English, contra and community dance caller. She started calling contra about 20 years ago and English about 10 years ago. She enjoyed the challenge of adapting ECD dances for virtual gatherings during the pandemic and even more importantly being connected via Zoom with dancers all over the world at these weekly dances during the shut down.
Since retirement from career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Dec 2022, she is calling even more regularly. She is also a Integrative Breathwork Practitioner and is constantly in awe of the healing powers of conscious breathing.
Kappy has been a part of the folk community for 40 years as dancer on rapper and garland teams, teacher of English ritual dances for all ages at many dance camps and schools, and organizer/camp director for many years. Kappy was the CDSS Camp Director for CDSS Cascade week — formerly known as Adult and Family week (Buffalo Gap/Timber Ridge/Camp Louise — for 25 years and has been Co-Camp Director of Terpsichore for the past several years.
